Laura Russeau
My true talents revolve around organization, coordination and leadership. My educational background, with degrees in multidisciplinary health studies and music, has provided me with a broad perspective and the ability to see connections across different areas of life. Professionally, I hold a Residential Builders License and am self-employed as part of our local handyman business. However, it is also my years of advocacy and event organizing that have shaped me into the candidate I am today.
People have come to know me as an innovative thinker—someone who doesn’t accept “the way things have always been done” as the only option. For example, I’ve consistently looked for new opportunities for my daughter to thrive, and in doing so, I’ve built a deep understanding of how to support others in reaching their full potential. Whether it’s a musical production, sports camp, or classroom project, my goal is always to pave a clear path for success—not just for one person, but for the entire community.
One of my most recent and rewarding experiences was co-chairing the E3 Neurodiversity Conference at Eastern Michigan University in April 2025. This effort reinforced for me the power of different perspectives and the importance of building inclusive spaces where everyone can contribute.
I believe these experiences, coupled with my commitment to our community, make me the best candidate to lead the City of Milan. I approach challenges with fresh eyes, an open mind, and a relentless dedication to setting people up for success.
